“Rebuild the Materials”

Our mission for next industrial revolution

A new industrial revolution capable of rebuilding the world is approaching rapidly. Future industrial technologies, including those of sky drones, aerial transportation vehicles, and aerospace mobilities, require materials that are stronger and more ductile, while anthropogenic CO2 emissions and the processing costs are reduced. Unfortunately, metals often exhibit “sugar-high” mechanical performance, i.e., ultrahigh-strength metals usually lack ductility, whereas highly ductile metals lack sufficient strength. Hence, our K-METAL group aims to link science discovery to a wide range of industrial applications. In this regard we develop the emerging metals and alloys via Artificial Intelligence and 3D Printing. Further we reveal the untold stories of deep relations between microstructure and mechanical properties from meso- to atomic scale regime via cutting-edge characterization tools.
